                                                  Vacancy For Quality Assuarance Coordinator

 

The Ascension Island Government is certified in ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and is working to implement OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) and in the longer term developing ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.

This is your opportunity to apply for the vacant position of Quality Assurance Coordinator, the start to a worthy career through dedication and commitment.  The role will appeal to candidates who have worked with Quality Management Systems and those with a desire to change career direction or those just starting out on a career path.   

Your responsibilities:

·         Maintain the quality management system

·         Conduct internal audits on Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions as required

·         Create and implement internal audit schedules and regularly ensure non-conformances are corrected

·         Instigate improvements to working processes from the internal audits and customer feedback

·         Update and monitor the electronic quality records for accuracy and storage

·         Assist and advise all teams on interpretation and implementation of the quality management system

·         Produce monthly reports for team leader’s meetings

·         Conduct Annual Management Review meetings

·         Willingness to learn and undertake further study

·         General administration in support of the QMS

·         Assist the Quality & Projects team leader with any other related tasks including administration and support for OHSAS 18001.

Your skills:

  • A good standard of education

·         Working in a similar role with an understanding of Quality Management Systems desirable (due consideration will be given to applicants who do not have the necessary experience but show a genuine ability and willingness to learn about QMS).

·         Self-motivating and proactive with organisational, facilitating and some management skills including decision making

  • Excellent customer service, listening and communication skills - both written and verbal for all levels of the business are necessary
  • An ability to learn quickly with some investigative, questioning and reasoning skills to assist auditing activities
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage own objectives
  • Enabling changes
  • Able to work accurately and diligently, and to improve own and business performance
  • Having and spreading the ‘customer focus’ vision
  • Developing people and bringing out creativity in others
  • Good IT skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint

·         A clean driving licence in classes A & B vehicles.

The Ascension Island Government is committed to the personal development of its staff and through training ensures that they are given the necessary skills to carry out their individual roles.

Engagement will be on a single status basis. The salary for the post is Grade 5 (£7,778 - £12,825).  Depending on skills and experience the successful candidate may be required to serve in the training grade 3 (£6,097 - £9,670).   The successful candidate will also receive: a single allowance of £2,825 per annum, rent free accommodation, utility allowances, mid-tour passage/flight, a gratuity on completion of 2 year contract, free medical and primary dental treatment and generous baggage allowances.
