Following the resignation of an Island Councillor in 2011, and the subsequent failure to fill the vacant position in October 2011, it has once again become necessary to hold a By-Election to ensure that the Island Council has its full membership of five persons.

His Excellency the Governor has, in accordance with Regulation 5(2) of the Elections Regulations, 2008, and pursuant to section 6(2) of the Island Government (Ascension) Ordinance, issued a formal notice appointing the 25th day of April 2012 as the day for the By-Election.

The Governor has also given notice that the date by which nominations shall be received by the Returning Officer at the Administration Office in Georgetown shall be the 11th day of April 2012.

Nominations of candidates must be delivered to the Returning Officer by 6pm on the above date.

Nomination forms are available from the Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer – Marion Leo or AIG’s Administration Office in Georgetown.

Please consider whether you would like to stand as a Councillor or if not yourself, who you would like to see as your representative.
