Leading up to this year’s ‘Fire Prevention Week’ activities, the children of Twoboats School, from all age groups, were asked to participate in the event by way of designing a poster and/or writing an essay on the importance of fire safety in the home and how we can protect our families against fire.

The overall response from the children was fantastic with some excellent poster designs and essays entered for the competition. The judging of the entries was conducted on Thursday 6th Oct by a panel comprising of personnel from the US Base and AIG (see photo) who were given the difficult task of choosing the winners and runners-up from each age group and category.

The Judges (L-R) Dr. Bill Hardy, MSGT Jerry Gilchrist, Nurse Carol Gilmore, Paul Cook, and Don Avilez, ATC.

The prize giving ceremony was conducted at the school on Tuesday 11th Oct. Prizes were awarded to the winners and runners-up of each age group and category and presented by Joanne Yeadon (Acting Administrator) Miles Miller (Director of Operations for AIG) and Major Andrew Peterson (US Base Commander).

The prize giving would not have been possible without the generosity and support of our local organisations and small businesses who kindly gave monetary donations and gifts.

AIG & CSR Fire Services would like to take this opportunity to thank the judges and presenters for their time given and in particular, the sponsors (see below) for their generous contributions and support, which greatly assisted in making this year’s event an overwhelming success.

Sponsors

Solomon’s Shop, Saints Members Club, Twoboats Club, Obsidian, Cable & Wireless, A & P’s Gift World, Serco Defence, Volcano Club, CSR Commissary & Store, Ascension GPS, 12-15 Radar Group, Base Clinic, Base Supply, CSR Management, CSR Fire Department (A & B Shifts), AIG Fire Service and Det 2, 45th Space Wing US Air Force.
