The Ascension Island Government is seeking to recruit a temporary Clerical Assistant for a period of approximately five weeks to work in the Shipping Office in Georgetown.

The Ascension Island Government is seeking to recruit a temporary Clerical Assistant for a period of approximately five weeks to work in the Shipping Office in Georgetown.
The main duties of the post are:
· Preparing Manifests and Bills of Lading for all outgoing cargo.
- Acting as a Tally Clerk for issuing of incoming and outgoing cargo including freezer packages.
- Carrying out warehouse duties, which include calculating cargo measurements and applying appropriate freight/handling rates.
- Updating the global passenger booking system on a regular basis and issue passenger tickets.
- Preparing and submitting data to Finance for invoicing in respect of passage fares, MOD and RMS, St Helena cargo transactions, cancellations fees etc.
- Assisting with flight bookings and all queries in relation to such matters.
- Filing typing and sending and receiving faxes.
- Co-ordinate tours for visiting tourist ships.
This is a household status position (only suitable for someone living on Ascension who is already a member of another person’s household that provides accommodation and allowances) and is Graded at Level 3 with a minimum and maximum salary band of £6,037 - £9,575 per annum. The successful applicant’s salary will fall within this salary band and will depend on qualifications and experience.
