Carrying out assigned tasks during berthing / unberthing / anchoring

Deck Rating Trainee

RMS St Helena

 

Main Duties:

 

  • Carrying out assigned tasks during berthing / unberthing / anchoring
  • Carrying out deck repairs and maintenance duties as directed by the bosun, including cleaning of cargo spaces, external decks and deck stores.
  • Strictly observing on board safety regulations and being aware of the location and method of use of all lifesaving, emergency and safety equipment.
  • Handling and stowing all ship’s stores and spare gear.
  • Preparing the vessel for sea as directed by the bosun, including securing of cargo / containers when required
  • Participating in shipboard training programme.

 

Requirement:

 

  • Education to GCSE Level or equivalent 

Start date:

28th February 2011
