Bishop John Salt’s Last Official Visit

Yesterday saw Bishop John Salt arrive on his last official visit to Ascension as Bishop of the Diocese of St.Helena. After serving for many years as our Bishop, Bishop John will retire next year. I am sure that he will be sadly missed by everyone, especially all of those who will have become used to his rather wicked and hilarious sense of humour.

The main purpose of Bishop John’s fleeting visit to Ascension, is to confirm six candidates who have already been prepared for confirmation by Canon Clive Duncan. The confirmation will take place on Sunday (see details below).

The Lay Ministers, Church Wardens, Sidespersons, Church Council and everyone of St.Mary’s parish would like to wish Bishop John a long, happy and peaceful retirement. May God bless you and keep you safe.

Service for Sunday 19 December 2010

Sunday 12 December will be the fourth Sunday in Advent. Sunday’s service will be a confirmation service when Bishop John Salt will be confirming six candidates. The service will start at the usual time of 10.30am.
