Ascension : ASCENSION ISLAND GOVERNMENT - VACANCIES

The Ascension Island Government is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions:

 

Civil & Grounds Maintenance Operative

AIG is looking for a flexible and enthusiastic individual who is seeking a new challenge and who can work well as part of a team. The successful candidate will, amongst other duties, assist with the upkeep of Two Boats Village, the Residency and Georgetown gardens and public areas, carry out general grounds maintenance, operate the irrigation system in Two Boats Village, assist with roads construction and maintenance and assist with duties carried out by other sections of the Department.

 

The successful candidate must have at least 1 years experience in grounds maintenance duties. Knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment and landscaping would be an advantage. A clean valid driving licence of classes A, B & C is desirable.

Storekeeper

AIG is seeking to recruit a competent, conscientious and self-motivated person to fill this position. The successful applicant will (along with another Storekeeper) be responsible to the Facilities Services Team Leader for the effective operation of AIG’s Central Store. It is essential that the applicant has previous experience of working in a Stores environment. An appropriate qualification or competency certificate would be desirable. 

The successful candidate will, amongst other duties, have joint responsibility for the general management of the Store, ensure that the Store delivers an efficient and cost effective service to all users, effectively operate and maintain the computerised stock control system on the Sage Financial System and ensure that appropriate levels of stock are maintained to meet the needs of customers. A clean, valid driving licence for vehicles of classes A, B & J is desirable.

 

Please note that stevedore duties is a core function for both of the above posts

Engagement in respect of both posts will be on a single status basis. Competitive salaries will be paid. The successful candidates will also receive: a single allowance of £2,769 per annum, rent free accommodation, utility allowances, mid-tour passages/flights, a gratuity at the completion of a 2 year contract, free medical and primary dental treatment and generous baggage allowances.
