Ascension : ADF Community Craft Show
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Editors) 20.05.2010 (Article Archived on 03.06.2010)

We hope you all enjoyed the ADF, and I’m sure you’ll agree that all the hard work was worth it!!

My particular thanks go to everyone who worked hard to put their entries into the craft show – what a display of talent we have on the island.  We really were overdosed on calories just standing next to the chocolate cakes, Stedson just couldn’t resist (thanks Aiden)! The exhibits from the school were great and made an exciting display.  The cakes and T shirts looked so professional there could be business ventures ahead! Some of the students were competing against adults in their chosen classes – and won!  A little competition is good fun.

The entries were significantly higher than last year, over 380 exhibits!!  We want to make this more accessible to more people so if there is a class or category you’d like to see then please let me know.  More photography classes went down well and there were more paintings from the adults on island too.  We still want more adults to be brave enough to put their name on their talents so next year in the absence of a local WI (watch calendar girls) we could even be getting the companies involved in group exhibits. It’s YOUR community craft show so while it’s fresh in your mind and  you have any ideas, reflections or suggestions please can you pass them on to the committee or to Alison Birkett.

Thanks to;

The commitment from the staff of TBS preparing and mounting all that work, enthusiastic kids, the Saints Club for use of the hall, setter up helpers, table movers, childminders,  the (tough) judges, stewards and watchers during the afternoon, the taking down helpers, and every exhibitor and person who had something positive to say.

Here are the results.
