Ascension : Ascension Island Conservation Department

It was another successful afternoon at the annual Ascension Day Fair.

In addition to the colouring competition, the Conservation department held a competition to guess Ascension’s endemic species and also Ascension’s extinct bird. Answers:

Endemics: Ascension Frigate, Ascension Wrasse, Pseudoscorpion, Asplenium ascensionis

Extinct Bird: Ascension Rail.

 

Winners are as follows:

 

Colouring Competition:

 

3-5 years          1st Place – Kelis Beard

                        2nd Place – Joshua Yon

 

5-7 years          1st Place – Tamar Birkett

                        2nd Place – Nyreeka Lawrence

 

Guessing the endemic species – Adam Fowler

Guessing the extinct species – Dominic Augustus

 

Prizes will be presented at Two Boats School on Friday morning.
