Hello...I often visit this site as well as the St.helena site(s) mainly due to an interest to possible employment on the islands ...as well as an interest in the unique cultures that are theses remote island gems...I live in the USA in the state of Missouri...semi retired but working as a case manager for a not for profit org. that deals with the assistance to individuals with disabilities, both physical and mental....I am 49 years of age, in excellent health.....the conversation job that was recently offered once again peaked my interest..but I see that it is being offered only to residents of the island at this time...well thats all... just wanted to say "Howdy"....

WAY BACK IN 1942 MY FATHER WAS CHIEF OFFICER ON THE aRMY TRANSPORT SS COAMO THAT SERVED AS THE HOTEL FOR THE CREWS THAT BUILT THE AIRFEILD. SO YOU CAN IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN A FEW WEEKS AGO I CLICKED ON ASCENSION ISLAND AND SAW THE CHANGES THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE SINCE 1942 WHEN THERE ON ONLY 38 PEOPLE WRE THERE.

Hallo to all,
I am Uwe from Germany and collect stamps. I have some ones from Ascension and create my own album sites with flags and coat of arms from every country. For Ascension I am not sure which kind I have to use: UK or St. Helena?
I know only Ascension don´t have own flag and coat of arms.
I would be very glad if you can help me.

Just wanted to say thank you for making the Islander available on the internet so I can see some of the things going on from time to time. I can visualize it now that we have been there ourselves. I did try and access the visitors book but without success on a couple of occasions. Could be my computer. So just wanted to say we had a great time in Ascension and if we could afford it, we would come regularly. Also a BIG THANK YOU to our daughter ANNALISE and to all her friends who made our time at Christmas so lovely. Hope you all have a HAPPY EASTER!
