UK: Further snow misery for the UK with heavy snow once again falling in the early hours of Wednesday morning, leading to Brize and several other southern airports closing for a time. Rising temperatures and rain towards the end of the week, lead to new fears over flooding.

Falklands: Wet and windy with showers and thunderstorms dominating the start of the week turning to just rain by the end!

Ascension: Generally bright and sunny, although Saturday saw plenty of the rain on the Eastern side of the island, leading to our own C. H. Atterbox and Mr Magill abandoning ideas of walking on that side of the island as waterfalls ran down the newly cut path to Whitehorse. Good news for swimmers though with the swell coming back round to a more southerly direction making swimming lovely again off English Bay.

St. Helena: Cloudy with occasional showers most days last week.

Snow Patrol

The Snow Patrol song Chasing Cars was the most widely played song of the last Decade according to the music licensing body PPL. Released in 2006 I remember it as the anthem to my first Basra tour, but it never actually made it to number 1. Only reaching number 6, it did however spend 94 weeks in the top 75 on download sales. Its success rocked after it was played on the US drama Grey’s Anatomy and Gavin & Stacey.

The second song on the most widely played song of the Decade also had a weather theme Shine by Take That obviously about the Sun!
