Ascension : Keep Ascension Clean - Adopt A Road
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Internet Editor) 23.04.2009 (Article Archived on 07.05.2009)

Over the last few years we`ve had volunteers who have been helping to keep our roadsides clean of cans and bottles that others so selfishly and mindlessly discard.

Over the last few years we`ve had volunteers who have been helping to keep our roadsides clean of cans and bottles that others so selfishly and mindlessly discard.

Some of these volunteers have left the island whilst others may wish to take a break – after all it was just initially for 6 months and some have very dedicatedly kept at it

We are looking for new volunteers to “Adopt a Road”, trying to keep the roadsides clean – it needn`t be an every week job, maybe once a month or whenever you can – any effort to help Keep Ascension Clean is appreciated.

If you would like to volunteer to adopt one of the road sections below, please contact Johnny at 6348 (W) or 6355 (H) to “book your road”.

“If it looks clean, it tends to stay clean”

1.     Georgetown – Hogans By Pass

2.     Hogans By Pass

3.     Hogans By Pass – Base

4.     Base to Windmills

5.     Windmills to Travellers Hill Camp

6.     Travellers Hill Camp to Two Boats Village

7.     Mountain Road

8.     Two Boats Village to Start of Dump

9.     Top of Dump to Petrol St.

10.   Petrol St to Georgetown.

Again many thanks to the previous volunteers and hopefully we`ll get a good response from some new ones.
