Ascension : TO THE PEOPLE OF ASCENSION ISLAND
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Internet Editor) 26.02.2009 (Article Archived on 12.03.2009)

TO THE PEOPLE OF ASCENSION ISLAND THANK YOU FOR YOUR CHRISTMAS CHEER

From Peter Barker, Solo Sailor on sailing yacht Bowtie Lady.

Mark Greentree invited me to spend Christmas with him and his friends, instead of on my own at sea sailing the South Atlantic on my way to the Caribbean.  What a man he is.

My thanks to all the people I met at the wonderful parties, in the street, at the parade, in people’s homes and in the Clubs over Christmas.  Being a social butterfly on your Island was so much fun.  The best part was the delight of being in the company of good people celebrating the festive season.  I was privileged to be included in your community where the welcoming smile is such a pleasant greeting.

I am a lucky man to have been with good people, eating the freshest of fish and having a good laugh, together.

Please read my blog where I have written about the splendid time I spent with you all.  You will see a lot of happy faces:  mybowtielady.com

Kind regards

Peter
