First, a reminder of the purpose of the Hobby Park and some of the rules:
Hobby Park is an amenity that aims to respond to the need for additional personal storage space and to provide an area in which people could pursue their hobbies etc. At the same it addressed the untidiness that had developed around the residential areas.
In 2007 it was necessary to arrange a major clean-up of Hobby Park because of the proliferation of abandoned vehicles, engines and many other items. Sadly, only one year on, it has become necessary to repeat the exercise and to remind people of some of the rules for use of this amenity.
- You must keep Hobby Park and your unit tidy – it is neither an alternative rubbish dump nor a car graveyard (which it currently looks like)
- Occupation is confined to your unit – you should not store materials, vehicles, parts or other items in the Hobby Park except in the unit, and unless you have written permission for this purpose
- No buildings or structures (temporary or permanent) may be erected in the Hobby Park without written consent for this
If you wish to keep something outside your own unit, on a temporary basis (e.g., a car undergoing repairs) you should seek permission through the Administration Department of AIG. You will be expected to remove the vehicle etc after the agreed period.
Current clean-up
Government advises that all moveable items within the Hobby Park vicinity that are not in containers or portacabins, will be disposed of by AIG in the near future unless removed by the owners and placed in properly allocated containers before then or otherwise claimed as or are obviously, genuine Hobby Projects/part of the registered allocated occupation.
If you own any items, for example, vehicle parts, old vehicles, etc, which are kept at the Hobby Park, you should formally notify the Works & Services Department's Technical Services Office (6346), giving details of these items. It may be necessary for some people to visit the Technical Services Office to assist with marking their location on a layout plan.
This Notice will allow you to contact the Works and Services Department to ensure that any item you own can be relocated to your allocated occupation or disposed off.
Please note that the information is required by Friday 6th February 2009 and any items left in or in the vicinity of the Hobby Park unrelated to occupancies will be disposed of by AIG.
This exercise will assist in tidying up The Hobby Park. Please ensure that the rules are observed in future so that it will not be necessary to do this again.
We will follow this notice with an article in next week's Islander, including photographs of the items, which should either be relocated or which can be disposed off.
