Work is progressing at a great pace with regards to the renovations.  Bobby Magill has designed and is building a great office space.  We are starting to get moved into it, even before he’s finished!  Thanks as well to Interserve and Justin Coleman for donating materials and to Gilbert Mittens, Raymond Herne and Nicholas Thomas for their time and talents in helping with the carpentry and painting.    Thanks also go out to Mark and Roy for their help with construction and picture hanging, and Gene and Richard for tidying up on Friday evening.  The whole project is coming together nicely, and the foyer has a fresh new look as well.

Plans are progressing for the new letterboxes.  One of our stamps will be designed by Derrick Guild.  The designs for the other four will be chosen from entries received in a contest that will be held at Two Boats School.  Children from the school will also be making the actual boxes in woodworking class.  The kick-off for the design contest will be on November 7th at the Friday Assembly.  We are looking forward to seeing what all our budding artists can design!

The actual letterboxes will not be in place until early in the new year.  We apologize for the misunderstanding that led a couple of hikers to search for the Dampier’s View letterbox in vain!  Watch this space for further information on this big project.

The direction sign found at the US Base is being redone as well.  This is the sign that had arrows pointing to cities all over the world, with the distances to these places.  When completed, there will be additional empty signs.  For a small donation to the Heritage Society, these signs will be available to have your home town or favourite city added, with the mileage included, and pointing in the direction of your home!  Why not leave a lasting mark on Ascension of the place you hail from?

As usual, lots going on at the museum.  Come have a look!
