Arriving on the island last week on the first leg of their epic journey, was the sports team from St Helena off to Pune in India to compete in the Commonwealth Youth Games.

The teams consists of Megan Sim and Mycle Williams who will both compete in shooting and Andy Leo and Ben Dillon who will represent the island in swimming.  On this leg of their journey they were accompanied by Simon Henry, Lillian Williams and John Dillon and they will be joined in the UK by their manager Tony Mercury and supporters Juliet Williams and Edith Timm.
While they were on Ascension the teams managed to fit in some training and Hensil Williams of IDL arranged for Megan and Mycle to get in some target practice at the old clay shooting range on Friday afternoon.  Ben and Andy also managed to get in a couple of training sessions as well, so their time on the island was well spent.
The team flew out to the UK on Saturday 20 September and from Brize Norton they will travel to Swindon and Oxford where the respective teams will train for the next two weeks until they travel to India.
The Games will be held from the 12 – 18 October and the team will travel to Pune on the 7 October.
Good Luck to all of these young people as they embark upon an adventure of a lifetime.  We are all very proud of you!!
