It was the Young Farmer’s Club that had been formed back on St. Helena some years ago that gave some of our young boys an opportunity of learning something about gardening.
The Club was opened every Wednesday when the junior members met with senior members to be taught a few basics about gardening. By the time they had reached the qualifying age to become senior members they had some knowledge of how to keep the soil in a good condition for the seeds to germinate and produce healthy plants and the importance of keeping the garden plots free of weeds.
The parable that Jesus told about the sower is a familiar in which Jesus spoke about the various types of soil in which the seeds fell and the different results.
God is continually calling us to a better life through his word which Jesus compared to a seed that is planted in the ground. If we offer God the right type of soil he will do everything that is needed for his word to grow in our lives.
Have a pleasant and enjoyable week,
Canon Clive.
