In 1962 I was the assistant deputy officer in charge of construction for the US Navy for construction of the road from the air force base to the NASA site. I still have picture slides which were taken during the construction of the road as well as construction of improvements to the runway which were done during that same year. Ascension Island brings back some pleasant memories for a then young and inexperience engineer.
