Ascension : News From St. Marys
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 24.01.2008 (Article Archived on 07.02.2008)

From time to time we find ourselves asking that familiar question. “who is that?”

From time to time we find ourselves asking that familiar question. “who is that?”  When John the Baptist saw Jesus coming towards him there was no need for him to ask that question,  John recognised Jesus  immediately “Look, there is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world”.

If we want to know who Jesus is, we have only to refer to the Holy Scriptures and there we will find not only who he is  but also his mission . We are left here to carry on with Jesus’ mission by sharing our faith and helping others to come to know Him..

Have a pleasant week.

Canon Clive.

ADVANCE NOTICE.

Sunday 3rd February.  Family Service and Baptism, 10.30 am.  I am inviting the children to bring along a toy to this service.  As previously, the toys will be sent to the Public Health & Social Services Department in St. Helena for distribution to children who are in need of a toy.  Last year we had a very good response and hope that it will be the same this year.

I will be leaving for the United Kingdom on Thursday 14 February to attend the Officiating Chaplains Course 2008 and return on Wednesday 27 February.  During my absencee Sunday Services will be conducted by the Lay Ministers.

It’s nearing the time again to think about who you would like to represent you on the Parochial Church Council. Start talking to people now and try encourage some young people to stand.
