Ascension : Ascension Advisory Group
Submitted by The Islander (Ascension Island Government) 18.10.2007 (Article Archived on 01.11.2007)

The Ascension Advisory Group met from 5 - 7:15 pm on Monday 15th October 2007.

It was chaired by the Governor and attended by all five Advisory Group Members and the Administrator.

Members discussed a first draft of a Business Policy in the context of a draft Property Policy.  The draft Business Policy aims to provide a framework to regularise all existing businesses and to make matters clearer for all businesses operating on Ascension.  Further consideration will now take place following the comments and suggestions from Members of the Advisory Group.  Once a further draft is finalised, stakeholders – especially all existing businesses on Ascension – will be consulted about the Business Policy and the linked Property Policy.

The Governor noted that this was the last Advisory Group Meeting that he would chair before the end of his contract and he thanked Members for their valuable input.  He was pleased that progress had been made on both Business and Property policies, which should end uncertainties for the businesses operating on Ascension.  He wished everyone on Ascension well for the future.
