Last year Ascension very generously raised money for Breast Cancer Awareness.
I feel its time we supported our men here on Ascension or St Helena, in the UK or any where in the World.
Unlike ladies, men are very bad at reporting lumps and bumps to their doctors and leave it much too late. Because of this I would like to raise everyone’s awareness of male cancer and raise funds for Everyman the male cancer charity which specialises in bowel, prostate and testicular cancers. Cancers that affect all our man of any age.
Major Rob Light, US Base Commander has generously agreed to allow the Runway to be used for a fund raising Dash on Sunday October 21st at 11am. All money raised will be donated to the Everyman Charity.
Come and join the Dash - get to the other end of the runway any way you like, hop, skip, jump, skip, ride, push, walk or run.
There will be buses to bring back any one who only wants to walk one way.
No matter how you are going to get to the other end of the runway just come along, join in and have fun.
I am a very beginner runner but my goal is to run the Dash!!!! I am in training! Now that I have put that statement in the Islander I will make sure I make it!
Miss Ascension will be the official starter for our Dash.
Certificates for all children under 12.
There will be a prize of a bottle of champagne for the lady who brings along the most men!!!!!! So start lining your men up - it does not matter what age your men are just bring them along.
The charge will be £5 per adults £1 for children under 16.
Come and have fun.
If you have any questions please phone Miss Ascension or me, Elizabeth Hill on 4525
