On Tuesday 29 May 2007 His Excellency Michael Clancy, The Governor hosted a luncheon for Mr. Colin Lawrence and selected guests at the Obsidian Hotel to recognise Mr Lawrence’s contribution during the Falklands conflict in 1982.

On Tuesday 29 May 2007 His Excellency Michael Clancy, The Governor hosted a luncheon for Mr. Colin Lawrence and selected guests at the Obsidian Hotel to recognise Mr Lawrence’s contribution during the Falklands conflict in 1982.
During the conflict Mr. Lawrence was a crew member on the RMS St. Helena during mine sweeping operations in the South Atlantic.
Following the lunch, HE The Governor presented Mr. Lawrence with a medal and certificate recognising Mr Lawrence’s valuable service and devotion to duty. Mr Lawrence, who currently works for CSR on Ascension Island, was accompanied by his wife, Heather. Others present were Mrs Nicola Kerslake, Ag Administrator with her husband Edward, Mr. Fred Kenney (CSR) Acting Station Manager, Mr Gary Campbell (CSR) Fire Security Chief, Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Trevor Fowler.
