small, but dedicated and determined group of hounds showed up for the hash, which started at the barbecue at the Ascension Day Fair. A Promised a quick, easy one, there were still a few uneasy looks in the direction of Sister’s! A few even fortified themselves in advance with some of Fred’s Kickapoo Joy Juice! In fact, some went so far as to head off on the hash with a cup of it still in hand!!
Relief was felt when the on-on was called and we headed up through the village instead. At the stile we all crawled over, and the FRBs soon turned off and straight up the hill. The walkers were relieved when informed that their route continued on across flat territory. Along the old pipeline to the Two Boats, and then up the road to the mountain Road. At the junction, the hare Irish Whiskey turned up, much to everyone’s dismay, but it was just a trick, and instead we turned down the hill!
Meanwhile the FRBs were climbing over some pretty rough terrain, and Jerimi, on her first hash ever, was having some trouble due to having trainers instead of hash boots. Gumby-Two Scoops gallantly agreed to stay behind and help her. They soon found themselves out of sight of the rest, but Gumby promised her he could get them back to the fair one way or the other. That’s when Buford T reappeared on the horizon to rescue them and take them along the real route!
The walkers headed up to the square tanks where all sign of hash soon disappeared. Must have been the leprechauns again, right, Irish Whiskey? Undaunted, they made their way down the track, past the school and back down the road, drawn by the welcome smell of the barbecue where some chili had been put aside for some. The rest dug into burgers and dogs, and of course, more joy Juice. The FRBs eventually started appearing up the North East Bay Road. Jerimi’s friends Laura and Bob, were starting to think she’d been lost for good when the last stragglers finally appeared at the cattle grid.
After that it was back to the festivities of the fair. Thanks to Buford T and Irish Whiskey for setting the hash for the intrepid hounds who were not swayed by the fair or the rain! Great hash.
Next Week: Garden Cottage…..everyone is welcome to stay overnight!!
Please bring a dish. Hares: Bloodsucker, Gumby-Two Scoops & Major
