Ascension : Ascension Day Fair Conservation Activities
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 24.05.2007 (Article Archived on 07.06.2007)

In happier news, we’re proud to say that our Conservation booth at the Ascension Day Fair was a success.

We held a colouring contest for children, in addition to an endemic species competition for the adults. We were surprised and pleased to have a child win the endemic species competition! Danielle Bennett was able to successfully identify the following Ascension endemic species: Ascension frigatebird, Ascension grouper, banded shrimp, Euphorbia spurge, Pteris fern. Our colouring competition winners were: Rachel Howell, Danielle Bennett, Brandi Leo, Nyreeka Lawrence, Josh Lawrence, Ellen Coverdale, Megan Peters and Ebony Stevens (competition participants can pick up their pictures in the Conservation Centre). Thanks to all who helped out and participated during the Ascension Day Fair!
