Ascension : From St Mary's Church
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 19.04.2007 (Article Archived on 03.05.2007)

Dear All, It was a pleasure to have Bishop James and Mrs. Johnson with us on Sunday. No doubt a number of people will remember Bishop James when he was Bishop of St. Helena and his visits to this Parish.

We wish them an enjoyable and relaxing holiday on St. Helena and look forward to having them again on their return journey to the UK.

I am pleased that at the Special Vestry Meeting last Sunday morning Mervyn Isaac and Clarence Roberts accepted to become Churchwardens. This is nothing new for Mervyn as he has served as a Churchwarden for a number of years in the past and will be a great support to Clarence and Alan Nicholls who is our new Alternate Warden.   I am also pleased to welcome Angela Roberts back on Council and Elaine Arms.

Adult Confirmation. Preparation classes will be starting shortly.  If you are interested please get in touch with me as soon as possible.

Ascension Day Fair.    Thee Fair is just a few weeks away.  The ADF Committee is planning two events prior to the Fair.  The first of these will be an evening of entertainment on the Pier Head car park on Friday 27 April.  On Saturday 12 May,  Mile of Coins in front of the Georgetown Shop.   In the meantime you can start saving up those coins!!

Have an enjoyable week

Canon Clive
