Ascension : Sue Ryder Shop
Submitted by The Islander (Gavin Yon) 21.03.2007 (Article Archived on 04.04.2007)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who have helped me with the Sue Ryder Boutique here on Ascension Island in the recent past.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who have helped me with the Sue Ryder Boutique here on Ascension Island in the recent past. Thanks to those who have opened, cleaned and tidied  the shop – Mrs Pam Benjamin,  Mrs Patsy Thomas, Mrs Prudy Peters , Mrs Sarah Coverdale and Mrs Sarah Howell.
I was completely out of helpers until a few volunteers came forward.

Over the past two weeks Mrs Jan Priestley, Mrs Alison Bassi and Mrs Helen Owen have been working hard cleaning and sorting the clothes – thank you ladies.

Also another volunteer will be joining us – Mrs Catherine Hions, many thanks Catherine.
Thanks to everyone on the Island who have donated clothes etc to this worthy charity.
Since I took over  - August 1997 to March 2007  - a total amount of £11,159.62 has been sent  to the Sue Ryder Care in the UK.
I am looking for a few more volunteers to help keep the shop open, it will be for about an hour once a month, if interested please ring me on 6458.  There are some great bargains in the shop:  A variety of ladies dresses, tops, skirts, pants, swim wear, men’s shirts, pants, shorts, jackets, children’s clothes, toys and much more – all at cheap prices.
The Sue Ryder Boutique is situated at the Exiles Club in Georgetown and is opened on Saturdays from 10 until 1130 AM and on Fridays from 5 until 6 PM.
Please support this worthy cause.
