Ascension : Christmas Tree Lighting & Sing-along
Submitted by The Islander (Gavin Yon) 21.12.2006 (Article Archived on 04.01.2007)

A crowd of over 200 people drawn from all areas of Ascension Island assembled in the square at Georgetown on Monday 18 December 2006 to attend the Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Sing-Along.

A crowd of over 200 people drawn from all areas of Ascension Island assembled in the square at Georgetown on Monday 18 December 2006 to attend the Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Sing-Along.

Organized by Ms. Christmas Crowie and her Works Office elves (too numerous to mention) the tree lights were switched on by the Acting Administrator and Miss Ascension.

Band “Santa & his Reindeer” and the three Carolettes led the singing, whilst the elves got busy distributing mince pies and festive wine purchased at special prices from Solomon’s and the US Base.

Thank you to them and all who attended, to make this first-for-a-long-time Christmas Sing-Along event a great success.

We hope to do it all again in 2007
