Dear Readers, Well here we are again, about to enter the festive season.
Lots happening in the forthcoming weeks so don’t forget to enter the Christmas Lights competition, write your Christmas cards to get them posted on time(See inside for posting dates).
Please don’t forget to get your letters sent to Mrs Claus before the 8th December.

Important Notice
Please be advised that the price of the Islander newspaper will increase to 60p or $1 as from the 7th December.
This is due to ever increasing cost of materials, shipping etc with no increase in the price of the paper since January 2004.
The Islander is run by volunteers at the moment, so the money you pay for your issue is spent completely on the paper and any overheads associated with the building.

I wondered if you can help me, my daughter is studying environmental study at University and has asked me if I could find out about environmental impacts that the oil industry will have on the islands when they start drilling for oil, I just wondered if you could tell me anything about the companies that are drilling in the Falklands, and which ones are drilling for oil at the moment, I know this is a strange request but she cannot find any thing out there, your time is very much appreciated
