Serco Defence and Aerospace has a vacancy for an electrical fitter within the Ground Engineering Section at the Ascension Island Base. The post is classified as single unaccompanied status.

The successful candidate will receive:

 

  • A competitive tax paid annual salary based on experience
  • A salary increase following a successful 3-month probationary period
  • Free food and accommodation
  • Give you 25 working days paid holiday and 8 days public holiday per year
  • One paid holiday fare to either UK or St Helena per year.
  • An annual allowance paid in monthly increments towards a second holiday fare.
  • Uniform and working clothes.

Interested candidates will need to:

 

·        Possess an in depth knowledge of either vehicle or domestic electrical disciplines, a general mechanical engineering knowledge would be of benefit.

·        Be confident, willing and flexible in attitude

·        Demonstrate first-class team working skills

·        Possess a good standard of education

·        Be physically fit

·        Hold a full driving licence and be prepared to undergo a security clearance

 

The duties would consist of rectification and testing of a wide range of domestic electrical equipment, and the electrical servicing of ground support equipment ranging from three and single phase generators, to aircraft handling equipment.
