Feeling tired after a hard day's work we look forward to going home, put our feet up and enjoy a well earned rest.

Dear Friends,

Feeling tired after a hard day's work we look forward to going home, put our feet up  and enjoy a well earned rest.  This was something Jesus disciples were denied when they came back to join Jesus.

The disciples were tried and were looking forward to a well earned rest when they returned from their first experience of mission work, but first they had to report to Jesus what they had done. They knew it was going to be difficult to find some place where they could be alone and Jesus knowing this invited them to go with him to a quiet place where they might have peace and quiet which he had sought for himself and them. But they were denied this well earned rest because the crowds had arrived at the place ahead of them. Jesus took one look at the people and showed his compassion for them who were like 'sheep without a shepherd.

Jesus still shows compassion for his people today.  He is there for us when we get loss through the many difficulties we are faced with in our lives.  We have only to call on him in the words of that well know psalm "The Lord is my Shepherd".

Have a pleasant week

Canon Clive.
