Ascension : Letter From Georgie Benjamin
Submitted by The Islander (Nathan Prince) 20.07.2006 (Article Archived on 03.08.2006)

Out of consideration for others and as a matter of course most people will clear up their rubbish when picnicking or having a BBQ in a public place.

This was not the case however when on Sunday afternoon a group of us met at English Bay and we were appalled to see the disgraceful state of the BBQ area. It would appear that the previous people to use this facility had left the whole area in a disgusting state.  There were empty cans, NAFFI drink cartons and other rubbish strewn on the ground, BBQ grids and on the beach.

May I ask the culprits concerned to show more respect for other users and in future make sure the area is left tidy.

I believe a bid has been approved to have toilet facilities erected at English Bay and although toilets are needed I wonder what department will ensure that they are kept clean and tidy.
