The Ascension Island Government (AIG) urgently requires a temporary Painter to work in the Works & Services Department for a period of one month in the first instance.

The post is within the Works and Maintenance Section and reports directly to the Works & Maintenance Foreman.

The successful applicant will receive training in Painter duties and must have the ability to possibly undertake a wide range of general duties. Overtime rates will apply for duties performed over and above the 40-hour week.  In addition to this, the applicant may be required to perform such other related tasks, which may reasonably be required.

It is not essential that the applicant has previous experience of painting/finishing work.  A valid driving licence in Classes A would be an advantage but is not essential.

The job is graded at Level 1-2 with a minimum and maximum salary band of £3,500 – £7,500 (before tax) per annum.  The successful applicant’s salary will fall within these salary bands and will depend on qualifications and experience. The job may suit a school leaver or as a holiday job. The contract will be household status.

For further details on the duties of the post, please contact Mr Nicky Herne on telephone number 00 247 6112 or email him at tony.peters@ascension.gov.ac

Application forms are available from the Administrator’s Office by telephoning (247) 7000 ext 131 or emailing fiona.benjamin@ascension.gov.ac.
