If you enjoyed the TV series here is the first in the series of books looking at other characters who are stranded on the island.  This one focuses on Faith an environmental worker whose life is revealed with tie-ins to scenes and characters from the TV series.  I did always wonder why they only focussed on a handful of characters now we know – the money from the spin off series of books!

The name’s Bond, James Bond.

Charlie Higson has taken us back in Bond’s life to his teenage years with two books.  The first in the series is called Silverfin and here we meet James for the first time starting at Eton School.  He has his first adventure in a remote Scottish Castle where the dark waters hold a sinister secret.  The second adventure is Blood Fever where the young Bond goes on a school trip to Sardinia and falls into a series of dangerous situations, which needless to say, he manages to escape from!

These books are great for adults as well as teenagers and can be found in the teenage fiction section.

Charlie Higson is a writer for the Fast Show on TV and has written several adult books.

Anthony Horowitz – The Alex Rider Series

We have many fans of Alex Rider – also a teenage Bond type character.  We now have the full series of Alex Rider books and to supplement this we have The Blueprints and complete technical data – Alex Rider The Gadgets.  This gives us full details of all those neat Bond-like gadgets including the Radio Mouth Brace (Johnny – can we all have one?), the full range of Cannondale Bad Boy Bikes, the exploding ear stud, the infrared goggles and bullet proof ski suit.  Full of diagrams and technical details this is a great read.
