The 10th Flipper Trophy Knockout Tournament which is sponsored by Cable & Wireless and run by the employees as a dedication to the memory of their work colleague Andrew “Flipper” Bennett started on Saturday 8th October 2011.
Two Boats Rowdies go through to meet the Retards in the Semi-Finals.

The 10th Flipper Trophy Knockout Tournament which is sponsored by Cable & Wireless and run by the employees as a dedication to the memory of their work colleague Andrew “Flipper” Bennett started on Saturday 8th October 2011.
Players and officials stood around the centre circle to observe the one minute silence.
It was nice to see Andrew’s relatives present including his parents – Joyce and Jimmy Bennett who are visiting from St. Helena.
The game soon got underway and shortly after starting an attempt to score was made by Steve ‘Rowdie’ Caswell who after some years of not having played in the Tournament has now returned to play for Two Boats Rowdies. By popular demand from Steve’s friends – they would like to thank Danny Francis from ‘Tasty Tucker’ for closing at two o’clock thus enabling Steve to make it to the game on time.
Chrissie Owen passed the ball to Colin ‘Shoe’ Thomas of which he then took a shot at the goal, but it went straight to Goal Keeper Dennis Stroud’s hands.
Two Boats opened the scoring with a corner taken by Chrissie Owen which the Harts defenders failed to clear and the ball landed to Jon Slater who tapped it in at the far post.
Michael Yon stepped up the momentum when he took a long range shot from the left wing which looked like it was going in, but unfortunately hit the cross bar. Shouts went up from the spectators as it was thought that he had scored a brilliant goal – this was not so. In his eagerness to score Michael then came back shortly after with another attempt at the goal, but the ball was then saved by Goal Keeper Alan ‘Bluey’ Williams.
Melvyn Moyce took a corner of which the ball dropped just in front of the goal, but was kicked out to midfield by the Two Boats Rowdies defence, shortly after which Shaun Appleton saw a chance and took a shot, but it went wide off the goal.
Chris Owen then made an attempt to score, but the ball was saved by Dennis Stroud.
Kruyff Buckley then took a shot at the goal, but kicked the ball straight into the goal keepers’ hands.
Chris Owen had another opportunity to score, but his shot was saved by Dennis Stroud after which a corner was taken by Chae ‘Bunny’ George who kicked the ball to Mario ‘Peaches’ Williams who in return headed it into the possession of the Harts defenders.
An attempt to score by Cody Harris went wide off the goal post.
Jon Slater then crossed the ball to Steve ‘Rowdie’ at the foot of the goal, but he missed his opportunity to score.
Darryl ‘Reggie’ Henry made an attempt to score, but the ball went high over the top of the cross bar.
In his attempt to clear the ball Jaie-Jaie Buckley handled the ball which resulted in a free kick awarded to the Two Boats Rowdies.
Score at Half-time was Two Boats Rowdies 1 – Harts 0.
The second half commenced with the Harts playing Michael Yon in defence.
A corner was taken by Jon Slater, but was cleared by Wally Campbell.
Chae ‘Bunny’ saw a chance and took it landing the ball in the net – shouts of ‘Hurrah’ went up from the spectators - only to realise seconds later that it was off side – a good effort made by Chae!!
Wally Campbell then had a good shot that appeared to be going in, but ‘Bluey’ managed to hit it over the cross bar.
Cody Harris was then substituted and Lewis Dewberry came on.
Melvyn Moyce then took a free kick which was a good shot, but unfortunately hit the cross bar.
In the meantime Steve ‘Rowdie’ tried to justify his existence on the field by trying to climb up the back of Jaie-Jaie Buckley.
Colin ‘Shoe’ then took a run down the right wing and scored a brilliant goal for Two Boats Rowdies.
Daryl ‘Reggie’ then had to come off due to having the cramp. The Harts were then one player short.
The game commenced and Jon Slater then scored Two Boats Rowdies third goal.
Wally Campbell took a free kick from outside the box which resulted in a first goal for the Harts.
Colin ‘Shoe’ then had another opportunity to score but the ball was saved by Melvyn who by then was playing in the goal whilst Dennis Stroud played out.
Chrissie Owen did a brilliant pass to Colin ‘Shoe’ who then scored again.
A free kick was then taken by Jon Slater who slammed the ball into the back of the net resulting in scoring his hat-trick and bringing Two Boats Rowdies in the lead to victory with a final score of 5 – 1 to the Harts.
Well done to both Teams for a very entertaining match – and congratulations to the Two Boats Rowdies for a game well won!!
