ASCENSION ISLAND GOVERNMENT AND OHSAS 18001 TRAINING

The Ascension Island Government is reviewing its Health and Safety Management System and is working towards attaining OHSAS 18001 certification by 2012.  Helping us to achieve this is DPRS Limited UK who have been contracted to deliver training to the staff.

The trainers, Kevin Peart and Willy McLean (pictured above) arrived on Ascension on 3rd October and immediately commenced the Slinger Signaller training.

Training has also been offered to other organisations on the island and we were pleased to be joined by a number of Cable and Wireless staff on the Managers Asbestos Awareness, RPE (Respiratory Protection Equipment) Competent Person and Pressure Water Jetting training.

As staff are multi-skilled it has been a really busy time for them attending the various courses.   The training will continue until 18th October when Kevin and Willy return to the UK.

Training in a number of other specialist areas will commence in February 2012.
