Ascension : Hash Trash - Hash No: 1355
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Editors) 21.04.2011 (Article Archived on 05.05.2011)

The small group of intrepid hashers met at the Babcock store on the North East Bay road.

Hares:  Mucky Digger and Wood ‘n’ Pecker

Hounds:   Herr Bitchmotor, Herr Roman Rummer, Sixty Watt, Gareth Williams, Secret Squirrel, Uncle Fester, Man Beater, Beaver Diva, No Idea, Sporticus, dipstick, Isabella, William, Helen, Alexandra, Warp speed,

The small group of intrepid hashers met at the Babcock store on the North East Bay road.  Mucky digger had not turned up for the second running which worried some thinking it wouldn’t be too child friendly … Hmm!  The warnings were given as slippery slopes, treacherous scree and watercourses which could not be followed.  The on – on was given.  Off towards the rifle ranges.  Only five yards off the dirt track across the dusty plain the hashers split into two groups.  The mini hashers were off on their own around street crater.  The others arrived at their first circle check on the top of Perfect Crater.

Secret Squirrel predicted more up-up and decided to go down!  The little people could be seen approaching the first range hut so long distance waves were exchanged.  Sixty Watt did his ten press ups.  The rules must have changed in the past few years.

The on-on was called the long way around perfect Crater.  Dropping down onto the saddle below sister’s Peak a second circle check was found.  The option was given to take either the short route down Perfect Crater or to continue round the East, down the gully.  A warning was given about the scree, ensuring hashers traversed across it without losing height.  In the case of falling rocks a cry needed to be given.  There were a few *** shouts.  Wood ‘n’ Pecker had tried to remain on the contour line following the vague sheep track, all followed tenaciously.

The third circle check was found in the saddle before the main Sister’s Peak.  Wobbly knees were calmed; Roman Rummer earned his 15 press ups but decided to ‘bank’ them for his next hash.  The on-on was given down towards Two Boats, down to the cairn on sister’s and following the steep watercourse to the firing range.  All were safely descended before finding a welcome home arrow, a gentle stroll across the solid and level hash to the beer kegs.  The little folk had returned, built and lit a bonfire to welcome the hardier ones home.

A well earned drink then down to business.  Two boot burnings (that’s four boots).  The Herrs were reluctant to burn their boots; Herr Roman Rummer burnt his socks whilst Sixty Watt offered his boots to Herr Bitchmotor.  On-on lads, until you return next time.  The circle of friendship was drawn and (sir) Walter was pushed into the middle.  Wood ‘n’ Pecker was ready for the Antarctic route but the ‘beam me up Scottie’ theme was more popular.  Warp speed will now be one of the names Scott answers to.

Thanks to Wood ‘n’ Pecker for showing us this way round Perfect Crater and to Mucky Digger for setting the kiddie bit.   No one volunteered to set next week’s hash so Wood ‘n’ Pecker will be volunteering his services once again!  An easier stroll will be on offer alongside the usual toughie which we love.  Bring a plate of eats.

Next week:  4.30

Hares:  Wood ‘n’Pecker  (again)!

Bring:  a plate of eats
