Ascension : ASCENSION POLICE DETACHMENT - STATISTICAL PERFORMANCE TARGETS
Submitted by The Islander (Ascension Island Government) 21.04.2011 (Article Archived on 05.05.2011)

The Ascension Police Detachment has been working towards our three year Strategic Community Safety Plan

(1st April 2010 to 31st March 2011)

The Ascension Police Detachment has been working towards our three year Strategic Community Safety Plan.   For each financial year we have set Statistical Performance Measurement targets for Crimes and Road Safety. I am happy to report a relatively successful year.

CRIME

  • We wanted to reduce crime to no more than 18; we did achieve this target as 12 crimes were recorded.  Unfortunately we did not achieve our 70% detection rate as 4 crimes were not detected. (67% detection)

ROAD TRAFFIC COLLISIONS

  • Our target of no more than 24 Road Traffic Collisions was achieved as there were 22 collisions reported to Police.

ALCOHOL RELATED DRIVING OFFENCES

  • We just achieved our alcohol related driving offences as 12 drivers were recorded for committing offences; our set target was 12.

We are hopeful that by educating the Community throughout the year on Crime prevention and Road Safety, we can achieve our targets that we set for 1st April 2011 to 31st March 2012 which are as follows:

Crime

  • No more than 17 reported crimes and to detect 70%

Road Traffic Collisions

  • No more than 22 road traffic collisions

Alcohol related driving offences

  • No more than 11 alcohol related driving offences

Until next time Keep Safe
