Ascension : General Election 2010

The Island Council was dissolved on Monday 11th October, and a General Election is scheduled to be held on Wednesday 3rd November.

The Island Council was dissolved on Monday 11th October, and a General Election is scheduled to be held on Wednesday 3rd November.

 

Nominations of candidates must be delivered to the Returning Officer by 4:00 pm on Tuesday 19th October.

 

If there are 8 or more nominations, the election will return 7 members to serve on the Council for a term of 3 years; if there are 6 or 7 nominations, the election will return a Council of 5 members.

 

If there are fewer than 6 nominations, the election will be postponed for a period of up to six months, during which time there will be no Island Council.

 

Nomination forms are available from the Returning Officer, Assistant Registration Officer – Mrs Sandra Benjamin or AIG’s Administration Office in Georgetown.
