Ascension : Church News

We all know it takes little effort to say ‘thank you’ and what it means to the other person but, perhaps unintentionally, there are times when we forget to say those most import words, ‘thank you’

JESUS HEALS TEN MEN.

We all know it takes little effort to say ‘thank you’ and what it means to the other person but, perhaps unintentionally, there are times when we forget to say those most import words, ‘thank you’

When Jesus was travelling along the border between Samaria and Galilee, as he entered the villages ten lepers came to meet him. They stood their distance and called to him to have pity on them.  When he saw them he said “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” As they were going away they were cleansed.

In Jesus day there was no cure for leprosy and those who had this disease had to leave their homes, families and villages and  were kept right away from everyone.  Should they be cured they had to go and show themselves to the priest before they could rejoin their families.

Out of the ten men that were cured only one returned to Jesus. He threw himself at the feet of Jesus and thanked him.

Before we start to criticise the other nine lepers who failed to say thank you,  to ask ourselves, are we really grateful to God for all that he does for us. It takes little effort to show him how grateful we are for everything by saying thank you.

Have an enjoyable week

Canon Clive

Thanks to all who brought gifts for our Harvest Festival and donations of fruit and vegetable to decorate our church for the occasion.   Thanks to the band and Jenny for the refreshments.
