We all gathered at Comfortless Cove this week.  Although we waited for a few extra minutes some of the usual suspects didn’t show – seems the new plane schedule is causing a few problems!  Especially when they don’t fly when expected!  The hazards warned of rocks; slippery, wobbly, sharp, big, small, and other Ascension variations!  Mucky Princess had three words of warning; crabs, cracks and chasms!  We were also told that the runners would break off after the second circle check…yeah, right!

Off we went, down towards the beach and then up to the cemetery.  We kept going up on the trail behind the graveyard, and the fist circle check found us at a nice lookout, admiring the big waves.  Then the rocky scramble really started!  We discovered that the hares really weren’t kidding about the various and numerous rocky hazards.  Honey Dunker decided on an alternate route a few times, rather than get too close to the cliff.

The second circle check came and went with Wood’n’Pecker remembering that apparently the point of separation came at the third circle check, or was it the fourth??  Uncle Fester led a few on another detour, which was discovered to be somewhat more difficult that the hash route!

Eventually we found ourselves at a nice little beach, dodging the waves, and having a bit of a break at the fourth circle check.  Finally, the time to really make the decision of staying on the tough scramble, or backtrack just a bit and make our way up to the road.  While little legged hashers, their escorts and a few more cautious folks opted for that choice, the other intrepid folks continued along.  Apparently the going got really rough at this point!  It involved sharp, pointy rocks, more rocks and a number of tricky chasms and fissures.  Simply Indiscreet helped Over & Done With through some tricky spots.  They eventually made it to Long Beach and were rewarded with a true bar check!  Wood’n’Pecker had to drive back (convenient!) and Uncle Fester and Over & Done With hitched a ride.  The rest enjoyed a nice run back on the tracks.

Ole Golly Waddler’s yummy soup refreshed the weary hashers, along with pizza and some other goodies.  The circle of friendship was drawn in the sand – it was time to welcome a sorry soul, Karen, to the fold.  Thanks to a few comments she made last week, she has ended up with the name Two Will Do.  Welcome to the Ascension Hash House Harriers!

A minute of silence was honoured in remembrance of the victims of 911, and the many rescue workers who went to their aid.  May we never forget.

A great hash, even a little virgin hash territory!  Well done, Mucky Princess and Wood’n’Pecker.
