Ascension : PIER HEAD PASSENGER TERMINAL
Submitted by The Islander (Ascension Island Government) 09.09.2010 (Article Archived on 23.09.2010)

NEMO MURAL - PAINTED BY BILLY MINTO

Whilst every effort is made to minimise the waiting time for passengers within the terminal before boarding the RMS St Helena, there are times when a short wait is inevitable due to sea/weather conditions or cargo operations.

As part of continuing efforts to improve the conditions within the Passenger Terminal at the Pier Head, it was decided to enhance the Children’s Play Area.

Mr Billy Minto, the Fire Officer for Ascension Island Government was known to have a very special talent for painting and we finally persuaded him to paint a mural on the Children’s Play Area wall.

After procuring the proper child safe paints, Billy set to work most evenings and weekends, and after many hours, produced a very professional and colourful mural which has pleasantly surprised both children and adults alike when checking in at the terminal.

We would like to thank Billy for his effort and dedication in completing this mural which will be enjoyed by all children passing through the Passenger Terminal on their way to the RMS St Helena.
