Hash No. 1322
Hares: Baggage Boy and Man Beater
Hounds: Uncle Fester, Beaver Diva, Over and Done With, Moaning Angel, Karen, Messy Queen.
A very small crowd of hashers gathered at the World War II Hydroponics site just off Donkey Plain. Baggage Boy gave the brief, hazards included loose rocks and strong winds on exposed ridges. Baggage Boy reassured the hounds that this was going to be a scaled down version of the planned route, a ‘Five Peaks Challenge’. This hash would now consist of only three peaks and six circle checks.
The on-on was called and the FRBs headed towards Lady Hill and up to the top. A few people signed the book while the others waited, been blown about by the strong winds. Whilst trying to replace the book, the lid of the box took off, lucking caught by Man Beater.
The hounds set off again, down the track towards the dump. Uncle Fester decided he wanted a slightly more adventurous, shorter route and scaled down the side of the hill instead. Crossing Donkey Plain, the hash then led the hounds to the second, less challenging peak. Down again to the flat plain and across to the third peak, fighting the gusty winds all the way.
At the top of the third peak the hounds were relieved to discover this was the last one and it would be all down hill from there (almost). At the bottom the FRBs picked up a bit of speed and reached the sixth and final circle check. This gave the hounds a few minutes to stop and regroup at the World War II Heritage site, what used to be an American Mess Hall. The route back passed a World War II powerhouse and refrigeration warehouse. Finally back for well deserved beers and some nibbles. There was no hash business this week.
Next week: Uncle Fester from A3 bungalow in Two Boats (Pete’s House). Please bring along a plate of eats to share.
