Ascension : Church News
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 19.08.2010 (Article Archived on 02.09.2010)

Jesus said “Do you suppose that I am here to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.

Luke 12: 50-52

Jesus said “Do you suppose that I am here to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.  For from on

A household of five will be divided: three against two and two against three; the father divided against the son, son against father, mother against daughter, daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

Jesus did not come to cause trouble, although he was called a trouble maker, or to break up families, but at times this happened because he insisted on saying truthful things even when they were unwelcome. His teaching brought disruption and caused division.  Those who were against him called him a trouble maker, a man possessed and law breaker.

Jesus teaching is the same for us to day. The choice is ours and ours alone to make whether we are for or against God.  If our choice is for God then we must be prepared to forsake all for him and put him first in all we do.

Have a pleasant week

Canon Clive.
