Ascension : Church News
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 12.08.2010 (Article Archived on 26.08.2010)

In this part of St. Luke’s Gospel Jesus tells us to be prepared and ready for the Son of Man who will come at an hour when we are not expecting him.

 LUKE 12: 35-48.

Be prepared.

In this part of St. Luke’s Gospel Jesus tells us to be prepared and ready for the Son of Man who will come at an hour when we are not expecting him.

His command is to “Be ready for whatever comes, dressed for action and with your lamps lit, like servants who are waiting for their master to come back from a wedding feast.  When he comes and knocks, they will open the door for him at once.  How happy are those servants whose master finds them awake and ready when he returns!”

Jesus makes it crystal clear that no one knows when he will come and like the faithful servant he speaks about, wants us to be ready when he comes.

Have a pleasant week

Canon Clive.
