Jesus is surrounded by a crowd of people when a man asked him “Tell my brother to divide with me the property our father left us.”

Jesus is surrounded by a crowd of people when a man asked him “Tell my brother to divide with me the property our father left us.”   Jesus refused to be involved with a family dispute instead he focused on the cause of the dispute and took the opportunity to teach his disciples and the people.  “Watch out and guard yourselves from every kind of greed  because a persons true  life is not made up of the things he owns, no matter how rich he may be.”

The parable Jesus told, recorded in Luke 12: 16-20, was about the man who had land which bore good crops. He began to think to himself, ‘I haven’t anywhere to keep my crops.  What can I do?  This is what I will do; I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones where I can store my corn and all my other goods. Then I will say to my self, Lucky Man! You have all the good things you need for many years.  Take life easy, eat drink and enjoy yourself.’

The man in the story was rich already but he still wasn’t satisfied

We all need a certain amount of money and material possessions but must always bear in mind Jesus warning about every kind of greed.

Have an enjoyable week.
