Ascension : Church News
Submitted by The Islander (Clive & Jenny Duncan) 05.08.2010 (Article Archived on 19.08.2010)

It must have been something wonderful about Jesus’ praying which made one of his disciples to ask him “Lord teach us how to pray”.

HOW TO PRAY (Luke 11: 1-4)

It must have been something wonderful about Jesus’ praying which made one of his disciples to ask him “Lord teach us how to pray”.   His response to this request was simple.  He gave them a model pray which brought together worship, daily needs and daily living.

The model prayer he gave his disciples is the same model he has given us to follow we know as the Lord’s Prayer.

“When you pray say this:

Father:

May your holy name be honoured:

may your kingdom come.

Give us day by day the food we need.

Forgive us our sins,

for we forgive everyone who does us wrong.

And do not bring us to hard testing.”

Prayer is a very important activity in our lives and should be our top priority.   Jesus life was one of constant prayer and we are encouraged to do the same.

Have a pleasant week.

Canon Clive.
