Fuels Operative

 

Serco Defence, Science and Nuclear have a vacancy for a Fuels Operative at Ascension Island Base.  The job entails the operation of the fuel storage facilities at Catherine Point and at the Airhead as well as Aircraft Refuelling. Applicants should be aware that the section works flexible hours which may include evenings, weekends and public holidays.  Applicants should also be prepared to undergo technical trade training in the UK.  The post is on an unaccompanied status

 

The successful candidate will receive:

 

  • A competitive, tax paid annual salary.
  • A salary increase following a successful 3-month of a 6 month period  probationary
  • Free food and accommodation.
  • 25 working days holiday and 8 days public holiday per year.
  • One paid holiday fare to either the UK or St Helena per year.
  • An annual allowance paid in monthly increments towards a second holiday fare.
  • Uniform and working clothes.
  • Comprehensive training.

Interested candidates will need to:

 

·         Possess a good standard of numeracy and literacy

·         Possess good IT skills

·         Have a calm, confident manner and temperament

·         Demonstrate excellent team working skills

·         Be physically fit

·         Hold A,B and Preferably J  driving licence

·         Have a colour perception of CP2

·         Be prepared to undergo a security clearance
