ASCENSION ISLAND GOVERNMENT

Two Boats School is looking for a very special person to take over the role of full time teaching assistant working with a very special Down’s syndrome child and carrying out other duties.  The role includes providing one to one classroom support with numeracy, literacy, reading, leading 1-1 and small group sessions, speech and language development, swimming, preparing classrooms resources, photocopying, laminating and displays. 

 

You will

  • Be a vital link between home and school.
  • Help our child to learn and develop key skills.
  • Need to be able to use Makaton sign language or be willing to learn it very quickly.
  • Need to be able to use your own initiative.
  • Have experience of working with young people in a school environment.
  • Be willing to learn new skills and ways of working.
  • Be cheerful and willing to be part of a team.
  • Have at least 1 years experience working with children in a variety of contexts.

The Job is graded at circa Level 3 with a minimum and maximum salary band of £5,977 - £9,480 per annum. The successful applicant’s salary will fall within this salary band and will depend upon qualifications and experience.

 

The post is offered as a Household (only suitable for persons who are already living on Ascension and who are a part of an accompanied status employee’s household) or Single Status Contract for two years.
