DO YOU LOVE ME (John 21: 15-19)
DO YOU LOVE ME (John 21: 15-19)
Everything in the story about Peter when Jesus appeared once more to his disciples by the sea of Tiberias, undoubtedly must have brought back memories for Peter. The great haul of fish and the charcoal fire like the one in the courtyard when he denied Jesus.
In spite of his denials Jesus did not write Peter off and was given a chance to affirm his love for his Lord when he was asked the same question three times. “Simon son of John do you love me”? Each time Jesus asked the question his response was the same “Yes Lord, you know that I love you”. Jesus command to him was “Feed my lambs, feed my sheep”.
One day Peter would be able to prove his love for his God by dying for him.
When Jesus turns to us to ask the question, “Do you love me”? we can be sure that his command will be the same as it was for Peter.
Have a pleasant week.
