Ascension : Farewell to Brian Keith Maggott
Submitted by The Islander (Islander Internet Editor) 25.02.2010 (Article Archived on 11.03.2010)

Among those leaving on the flight on Friday, 26 February will be our friend Brian Maggott.

Brian – you have graced the shores of Ascension for many years and it is really quite difficult to imagine you not being here.  You came here at the tender age of one year’s old, attended school, applied for your apprenticeship, went on to becoming a carpenter for many years and later moved  into gardening within AIS, AIWSA and later AIG.  You also carried out the very efficient role of Tally Clerk for many years.

Apart from this you have been a wonderful person to know and are always in high spirits which is like a breath of fresh air when at times the moral has been very low.  You will always be very highly regarded amongst both the young and older residents here.  The high turn out of friends at Friday night’s party and the enthusiasm which was shown by everyone to make the night possible was a true testament as to how highly you really are regarded.

What we would like to know is who’s going to sing along to all of those old, almost long forgotten tunes at the Saint’s Club now???????

Take care, God bless, be strong and have faith.  It won’t be the same here without you but we won’t be saying Good Bye as we know that we will be meeting again.

May you take with you Good Memories, Much Laughter and Good Luck for the future.

From all of your colleagues especially the ship working team, family, friends, the Management & Staff (& Punters) of the Saints Club…… oh…… and the ladies at Two Boats Village whose hedges you trim….. (they always claims that no-one does it like Briany!!)
